“Stephen King is the worst criminal the state of Florida has ever harbored”
Please. Get real.
Beloved horror novelist STEPHEN KING has been accused of being the real shooter behind the death of John Lennon… but the accusation doesn’t really hold any water.
Armed with dubious statistics, posters and a whole lot of crazy, conspiracy theorist Steve Lightfoot crashed a Sarasota City Commission meeting Tuesday to advance his charges that King, not Mark David Chapman, shot Lennon. Lightfoot chided the council members for attempting to dismiss his wild accusations, claiming that “Stephen King is the worst criminal the state of Florida has ever harbored.”
King, whose primary residence is in Bangor, Maine, often spends winters with his wife, Tabitha, in their waterfront mansion in Sarasota.
Lightfoot, whose Web site lists a mailing address in Santa Rosa, CA, claimed at the council meeting that he was known by “10% of Florida,” and “50% of California,” before accusing Stephen King of the infamous 1980 assassination.
Strangely enough, he was then asked to leave as the gallery broke out into unrestrained laughter. On his way out, Lightfoot offered a strange and ominous warning.
“California laughed. Look at California now — worst fire season in their history.”
Lightfoot’s Web site lays out his case against Stephen King with a collection of pictures, magazine clippings and letters. If you’ve ever seen A Beautiful Mind, it’s exactly what that guy’s crazy-time schizophrenic shed looked like, complete with random magazine clippings and circled phrases representing some sinister code, except it’s on the Internet. It’s hilarious until you realize the guy probably is schizophrenic and in need of help. Then it’s just sad.
I can only hope Florida and I are not punished too harshly — like with massive wildfires — for laughing at Lightfoot’s accusations.
