NINTH GRADE GIRLS DEFEND CHRIS BROWN!

a great way to stand by their man

“I thought she was lying, or that the tabloids were making it up”

Boys, will be boys, but I wish I can say the same for these girls. LOL!

The New York Times ran a story yesterday that has some of the most horrifying quotes I’ve seen on the subject of RIHANNA’s beating at the hands of Chris Brown. And they come from ninth grade girls.

“I thought she was lying, or that the tabloids were making it up.”

“She probably made him mad for him to react like that. You know, like, bring it on?”

“So he shouldn’t get into trouble if she doesn’t feel that way.”

“She probably feels bad that it was her fault, so she took him back.”

“I don’t think he’ll hit her like that again.”

The article focuses on anecdotal evidence and polls showing how common it is for teenage girls to forgive Chris Brown for attacking Rihanna and explores the obvious implication: teenage girls are just as likely to forgive men who abuse them.

It’s a frightening story, but one that suggests there is something to be gained from the incident. It can be a launching point for parents and educators to talk to kids about domestic and sexual violence. The Times story points out that it’s the first time much of this young generation has been forced to see and deal with such gross domestic abuse.

What do you think? Are you surprised that teenage girls are defending Chris Brown?
