Newsom by-passed all media outlets (even the ailing San Francisco Chronicle)
San Francisco Mayor GAVIN NEWSOM used the SF-based Web site Tuesday morning to announce his candidacy for governor of California. Newsom’s announcement comes as no surprise. Many were expecting the high-profile mayor to make a run for governor.
Newsom by-passed all media outlets (even the ailing San Francisco Chronicle) to give the information directly to anyone following his Twitter feed :

Check out video: http://tr.im/iOCN and ReTweet In the video linked from his Twitter, the 42-year-old mayor says, “I’m a candidate for governor of California because I know we can do better. I’ve seen what can happen when we stop looking back and start looking for solutions.”
