never say forever
“The chemistry of what’s needed — we’re in two totally different places”
Good while it lasted!
VH1 reality star and The Inc labelhead IRV GOTTI says he can no longer work with ASHANTI and is infact dropping the “The Way That I Love You” singer !
“We don’t really speak or talk or anything like that,” says Gotti, who also has R&B singer Lloyd and chart-topping rapper Ja Rule on his roster of recording artists at The Inc.
According to Gotti, Ashanti departed from their hit making formula on her last effort “The Declaration (2008) and thus he says it is best for them to part ways.
“The chemistry of what’s needed — we’re in two totally different places. You’re talking to somebody that took her and shaped and molded her and put her out there for the world, and it blew up. We [hold the record] for the [fastest] selling debut by a female R&B artist — 503 [thousand]. We did it! My views and philosophies and her views and philosophies are not meeting up,” Gotti told MtV News Thursday.
In fact, in video below Gotti goes as far as stating “I don’t think she can win. She need some guidance with that”.
Prior to last year’s “The Declaration” (album) Ashanti, under the direction of Gotti, scored three Platinum-plus certified albums including the over five million copy selling debut “Ashanti” in 2002. “The Declaration” since its release in June of 2008 has failed to reach Gold.
Speaking with Singersroom last year Ashanti offered “I got a chance to get outside the box (…) it was an amazing feeling of going and establishing a different repore and chemistry. Me kind of controlling everything gave me a chance to really explore and do something different.”
