Below are some flicks from Thursday night’s Heineken Red Star Soul 2009 kickoff in Chicago. LUDACRIS, MELANIE FIONA, and DON CANNON performed.

This year’s exclusive and invitation-only shows will feature undisputed heavyweights in the game including T-Pain, pop/alternative band N.E.R.D. and Big Boi as well as young challengers Wale and Mickey Factz.

Keeping the crowds rocking all night will be the hottest DJs in the country including Clark Kent, DJ Mos, DJ Jus Ske, Mick Boogie, D-Nice and legends Jazzy Jeff and Biz Markie. The tour will take nine U.S. cities by storm.
