“No Regrets“
Before R&B boy bands like 112 and Jagged Edge, there was All-4-ONE. The quartet won a Grammy for its 1994 single “I Swear,” but when the U.S. scene got crowded, All-4-One transitioned to the Asian market.
With group member Jamie Jones and his crew at the production helm, the guys deliver their first U.S. album in seven years. Set for release Sept. 15, “No Regrets” (Peak) offers a nod to 1960s R&B . The lyrics are clear and they actually mean something. “I Luv That Girl” and “Day Life Began” find the guys happy and in love. “I don’t care what all of my friends say, you’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me,” the guys sing over a gleeful, midtempo track on “Regret,” the testimony of a man who ignored unfounded suspicions about his girl.
“My Child” drags the harmonies over a slow, rhythmic track to urge parents not to use their children as pawns in relationships. “Swallow your pride. He needs me in his life,” they sing.
The harmonies are thick and flawless enough to make you wish for an a-cappella encore.
