It isn’t that RIHANNA’s rude: She’s just shy. But her reserved side is often mistaken for a diva attitude because she isn’t always open and chatty when she meets new people.

She told WPGC radio: “I don’t really open up to a lot of people, usually I go very quiet. If I don’t know someone often I don’t say very much, I observe and people think I am snooty because of that. People assume that I’m a b***h. But I don’t think that I am. I just don’t feel I have to be that enthusiastic if I don’t know who you are yet.”

Rihanna, who was famously assaulted by then-boyfriend Chris Brown last February, also said that despite the incident, she had never considered stepping out of the public eye and can’t see herself making the decision to do so in the future.

She added: “If I could step away from the music industry? I’d never do that because I really love what I do and it would be a shame to give this away because I dreamt about it for so many years.”

Still, Rihanna’s emotions were running so high when she returned to the recording studio after her split from brown that you can hear all her feelings in her new album Rated R. She said: “The vocal performances definitely were influenced by the emotion, the feeling. I wasn’t just singing lines. I was singing every word and every word meant something because it was my story. It was a lot more personal, a lot more real. I was venting.”

She did, however, say recording the album was a positive experience. She added: “Making this album was still a lot of fun, I have to say, it was really good for me.”

Rihanna, 21, also said during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show last month that she has set herself a goal to find a new love in the next 10 years. She said: “I hope I am in love by then. 31 is a decade away. I better be in love by then.”

Despite being recently photographed on holiday in Mexico with baseball player Matt Kemp, the singer claims she is currently single.
