HOTT-est! NAIL POLISHES! FOR THE FALL!

// October 10th, 2009 // No Comments » // Hott2Def!

feel good look good!

chris-benz-nails

HOTT2DEF!

These polishes will be liked by all!

Like killer shoes or the right bag, a haute mani gives validation to the rest of an ensemble.

Pick the right one – like Chanel’s Jade, which the company created to enhance the threads in its fall tweed, pictured below – and suddenly any outfit has the potential to become that coveted thing known as “A Look.” No wonder designers and their hired nail gurus labor over which season’s shades are right for the runway.

Check out the shades that made the cut this fall, below –

Orly Enchanted Forest:

Deep green nail polish, both chic and edgy, is poised to be the new dark du jour. When wearing a hunter green like Orly Enchanted Forest, take nail artist Deborah Lippmann’s advice: Keep your makeup and clothes in the same color family – dark green works best with earth tones, not New Wave brights. Conservative advice, but it works. $7.50

Deborah Lippmann Marquee Moon:

Marquee_Moon_72SM1

Fashion’s ongoing obsession with futurism and the Eighties allows plenty of time to rock the new It Polish, Marquee Moon. With a cool texture – it’s infused with what looks like mini paillettes – this shade was the perfect polish for Rodarte’s show. “The futuristic sequined silver helped create an edgy, deconstructed look,” says Lippmann. $16

Lancôme Le Vernis in Indigo Paris:

chris-benz-nails_02

With Yves Klein Blue taking the stage as one of Fall 2009’s must-have colors – Louis Vuitton and Chris Benz showed how the cold, deep blue was done – it feels perfectly on-trend that the quintessential French brand, Lancôme, would offer a nail lacquer in a nearly identical shade, with a splash of jewel-like shimmer. $18

Deborah Lippmann Don’t Tell Mama:

Deborah_Lippmann_Dont_Tell_

“Expect metallic polish in psychedelic colors to pop up this fall,” says Lippmann, sagely. Psychadelic, indeed – the nail artist likens this bluish-emerald nail lacquer to a liquid “mood ring.” Besides being totally hypnotic, it scores points for quietly nailing the deep blue and green trends, too. $16

Rescue Beauty Lounge Matte Topcoat:

004

As an antidote to the screaming neon styles on the runways (she’s admittedly “baffled”), nail guru Ji Baek ushers in the Age of Understatement with Matte Topcoat. Layer it over any polish to give it a new, rich porcelain finish. “It’s not ‘look-at-me’ noticeable,” says Baek. $18

Essie Mink Muffs:

brown

Brown nail lacquer hasn’t been big in what seems like ages, but this season’s mixed selection is as varied and, frankly, delicious-looking as a box of Lindt truffles. “Chocolate-y brown is the perfect go-to warm winter shade,” says Lippmann. “It really complements the plaid and tweed looks we saw at Michael Kors, Carolina Herrera and Richard Chai.” $8

Dolce & Gabbana Intense Nail Lacquer in Soft 205:

Dolce-&-Gabbana-Romantic-Co

“Psychadelic metallics are the perfect complement to the metallic-colored dresses on the Balenciaga, Hermes, and Chloe runways,”says Lippmann. This ruby-and-gold number from Dolce & Gabbana feels more opulent than futuristic. $20

CHECK OUT NIKE’s NEW VALENTINE SHOE

// January 14th, 2009 // 1 Comment » // Hott2Def!

It’s far from a coincidence.

This pair of AIR MAX 90’s have been chosen to be the annual Valentines Day sneaker from Nike, since its all red and comes out in February. However, for the record they are part of the Nike Spring 2009 Collection. According to the folks over at Nike, it was just a coincidence that the red sneakers were set to come out next month.

These sneakers are — Hott! They are red and white with a bright red bold color scheme  giving them an ability a block away. They also have a leather construction with mesh inserts on the toe box and side panels. The mesh is for ventilation since the shoe was originally a running sneaker.

ARE YOU READY FOR THE DIGITAL SWITCH?

// January 11th, 2009 // 2 Comments » // Hott2Def!

will it be worth the wait?

“The list already contains 103,000 names, and more coupons will only be mailed when the ones issued previously to other consumers expire.”

14937294

By John Charles Reedburg

Ready and looking forward to it.

The digital deadline is barely one month away.

In 1996, the federal government passed a law requiring all analog television transmission to switch over to digital on February 17, 2009.

While the majority of consumers utilize cable or satellite services, Arkansas Attorney General Dustin McDaniel issued this consumer alert as a reminder to double check your TV’s setup before the digital switch.

Digital television or “DTV” is an umbrella term that encompasses advanced broadcasting technology.

Consumers that do not currently use satellite or cable but use rooftop antennas or “rabbit ears” instead, will need to consider one of the following options:

1) Buy a new, digital television;

2) Subscribe to cable or satellite; or

3) Purchase an analog-to-digital converter box.

Between now and March 31, 2009, all U.S. households are eligible to request up to two coupons, worth $40 each, to be used toward the purchase of up to two, digital-to-analog converter boxes.

However, it is important to note that the National Telecommunications and Information Administration, which is doling out the vouchers, recently created a wait list after hitting its spending limit set by Congress.

digital-tv-01-500x375

The list already contains 103,000 names, and more coupons will only be mailed when the ones issued previously to other consumers expire.

Additionally, those wishing to purchase converter boxes should be wary of advertisements offering assistance in obtaining the boxes, as those offers may be scams that cost the consumer more money than necessary.

For more information on obtaining converter boxes and coupons, consumers should click here.

Consumers who currently receive over-the-air digital programming through cable or satellite do not need to do anything in advance of the February 2009 deadline.

APPLE BECOMES THE NO.2 SMART PHONE SELLER IN THE WORLD

// November 9th, 2008 // No Comments » // Hott2Def!

By John Charles Reedburg

No wonder so many of these are selling. They’re – hott!

Apple, just a year and a half into the smartphone business, now has a higher marketshare than Canadian giant Research in Motion, and is second place only to Nokia. Apple’s 17.3% share is just barely beating out RIM’s 15.2%, and of course is nowhere near Nokia’s 38.9%, but it’s just one more sign of how important the iPhone really is.

The iPhone 3G’s launch throughout the rest of the world has had a huge effect on sales, and the phone has sold nearly 7 million since its July 11 debut. Apple’s share of the entire cell phone market is now 2.3%, a pretty respectable number, and has pushed Microsoft’s ailing Windows Mobile platform off the medal platform into 4th place.

Even Nokia has seen its share drop more than 12% from last year’s 51.4%, though the Symbian maker is still holding strong with more than double Apple’s share. What’s great about Apple’s new importance in the smartphone world is how it pushes the other manufacturers to bigger and better things. BlackBerry’s new lineup looks great, and Nokia’s 5800 XpressMusic is so hot all the pop stars want a piece of the action.
