bright lights! big photos!
See what the STARS were wearing for television’s biggest night of the year!

HOTT PHOTOS!
Heidi Klum just told E! that she thinks it’s cool to make the dresses tinier as one gets further into her pregnancy. That, my friends, is why Heidi Klum is completely awesome.

Klum wore a glittering black Marchesa dress to the 2009 Primetime Emmy Awards, accessorizing her glamorous look with dramatic jet earrings and an elegant updo. One has to love Heidi’s commitment to fashion even in the final weeks of her pregnancy, no?
Jennifer Love Hewitt, star of The Ghost Whisperer, hit the red carpet tonight with her beau Jamie Kennedy. She looked radiant in an ethereal lemon gown by Max Azria. This is exactly the sort of dress I wish I could see on Angelina Jolie – it’s exactly the cut she’d wear, but in a fabulous, romantic color.

Love’s half-up, half-down hairstyle fits the aura sweetheart dress perfectly as well. Perhaps sitting in the front row at all those fashion shows last season helped her to pin down her personal style.
Heroes star Hayden Panettiere looks regal in her bright red J. Mendel gown, which she paired with equally bright lipstick and her standard voluminous updo.

I like the retro makeup (again, heavily-lined upper eyelids) and the texture of this gown, which may be a slight bit gorwn-up for the young TV star.
Panettiere told E! that she doesn’t plan to go to college anytime soon…and why should she? Lady is on a hit show. She’s earning more than most of the country’s philosophy majors, combined.
Apparently Kim Kardashian didn’t feel like giving out any interviews on the Emmy Awards red carpet – perhaps because she knew all anyone would want to talk about is her soon-to-be-wed sister, Khloe.

Whatever her reasons, Kim looks hot tonight in a white asymmetrical ivory gown and huge hoop earrings. She still loves those bodycon dresses, eh?
My only gripe: the severe hair. I’m happy Kim wore her hair up to show off the dress’ neckline, but the slicked back hair, while clean like the dress, just isn’t particularly interesting.

I’m attracted to all things glittery, but I just can’t get behind Christina Applegate’s sparkling Basil Soda gown. I haven’t really liked any of the pieces I’ve seen of his on the red carpet (Paula Abdul, Paris Hilton, and Katy Perry have all shown him love), so maybe I’m just biased against his aesthetic.

What do you think of the look? I just don’t think the silhouette is all that flattering, despite my love of the color.
Neither Blake Lively nor her character on Gossip Girl, Serena Van Der Woodsen, is one to shy away from a plunging neckline. Blake looks regally seductive in this crimson Versace dress that plunges down to here and is slit up to there. The back is especially amazing.

I especially like that Blake tied her hair back for the sake of this neckline, as I often find her gorgeously tousled curls a bit distracting.

Simple, understated makeup (heavily-lined lids are a definite trend) and a glittering diamond cuff by Lorraine Schwartz pull the look together.
