Should Blacks boycott companies who chooses not to market towards the urban consumer?
From an-e-mail, which cites Tom Joyner’s Morning Show as the source of information about NUD (Non Urban Dictate), “the acronym for a very subtle and little-known marketing term specifically directed toward people of color. ‘Non Urban Dictate’ These three words essentially mean that a company is not interested in the Black consumer.
A NUD label means that a company does not want their marketing and advertising materials placed in media that claim an urban audience (black folks) as their main target. There are legitimate reasons for companies not using urban radio. It may be that Blacks don’t index high in certain categories or that a company’s strategy is to market to the Black consumer down the road after they have established a strong position in their primary target. But, NUD usually means that a company is not interested in the Black consumer.
Companies evade discrimination liability by embracing it as theory rather than policy. As a service to Black consumers, the Urban Institute will list all companies that have a NUD policy.
Armed with this information, we feel that Black consumers will be able to make informed buying decisions.

Do transgendered teens have the right to attend high school, despite their choice to dress as the opposite sex?
A 16-year-old student at North Cobb High School has accused the school system of failing to protect him and stifling his identity after coming to school dressed in female attire. JONATHAN ESCOBAR recently relocated to Cobb County and left school on Sept. 30 after he says school officials told him to stop wearing women’s clothing. School officials said North Cobb did everything possible to accommodate Escobar, who was unwilling to cooperate.
“I’m an artist and this is my art,” Escobar told Southern Voice of his style of dress. Escobar said he doesn’t like to label his sexuality and is comfortable with either gender pronoun. Escobar said he attended North Cobb for three days in flats, tight jeans and simple shirts.
He said he did not wear anything that violated the dress code, but said he did come to school with a pink wig in his purse on Sept. 30 and later put it on. On Sept. 30 two students got into an argument about Escobar that led to a fight. Escobar and school officials differ on what happened after the fight. Escobar says the school told him to dress like a man or be home-schooled. The district says Escobar refused requests to wear something less disruptive.

This is crazy!
A cornrow controversy has emerged in the Philadelphia Police Department after an OFFICER was pulled off street duty because of his hair cut.
The Daily News recently reported that the 35th District officer was placed on desk duty. The newspaper said the white officer remained on desk duty for two days until he cut off the braids. A police spokesperson said the officer’s supervisor did not believe the hair style was professional.

New Watermelon Soda, Racist or Not?
New York, City, Harlem — Target on 225th St., in New York City and made an interesting discovery.
In the beverage aisle at a Target store in New York City someone discovered a soda with a black girl eating watermelon on a can. Quite similar to the caricatures of America’s racist past.
According to a recent UPDATE! the company that manufacturers the soda is Cuban based and has been around since the 1940’s.
Whereas, obviously there thoughts about black people hasn’t changed!

Sex sells!
This documentary talks about the sex market in underground strip clubs.
In today’s economy, the only thing selling are condoms – condom stocks are on a steady climb while other stocks are plunging. Which leads to a proven fact that while most men are busy struggling – and searching for jobs during this tough recession they are still finding ways to purchase sex.
I believe this documentary shows the perfect irony in illustrating a very strong paradox between two worlds: Strippers who prostitute for extra cash to stay afloat in this harsh economy and the men who find ways to purchase sex despite these hard economic times.
Sex sells and will always sells, despite if the economy’s good or not.

This is something that I always knew but it’s still quite informative!
This documentary reveals that educated DOMINICANS who recently traced their roots – back to Africa – consider themselves black. They feel that Dominicans raised in the Dominican Republic are not told the truth about their origin.
Today, Dominicans living in the United States have taken courses that have helped them to discover their true identity by tracing it back to Africa.

With all of the blatant discrimination that take place against homosexuals, the average person wouldn’t think there would be a racial and ethnic divide amongst the gay community. This documentary is pretty educational.
