What ever happened to the psychic friends?

DIONNE WARWICK will be making her status as an Obamamaniac official on Inauguration Day by hosting the massive American Music Inaugural Ball: “Rock With Barack”

According to a press release, it will be the only dual-event ball in D.C., featuring both a Legends Ball and an Urban Ball. The Legends Ball will feature Warwick and a host of other “legends” such as George Clinton, Chaka Khan, and the Temptations. The Urban Ball features a younger line-up with Outkast’s Big Boi hosting the festivities along with rapper Chris “Ludacris” Bridges.

Dionne Warwick, who now lives in Brazil and was listed as one of the Top 250 Delinquent Taxpayers in California in 2007, seems mighty proud of that Obama T-shirt, and of the event itself. On the AMIB’s Web site, she writes:

It is an honor and a privilege for me to host AMIB and its events over what will undoubtedly be two of the most exciting days in American history. On Tuesday, January 20, 2009, at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel, in Washington, DC, we celebrate with pride and joy the inauguration of President-Elect Barack Obama…

Aww, Dionne, it feels like only yesterday you were staying up late with me and trying to convince me to be proactive with life’s problems and call the Psychic Friends Network. It turns out it’s been 10 years since the PFN went bankrupt, and you have to feel kinda bad for Dionne… even if it is only a little bit.

In a 2002 Biography Channel interview, Warwick’s manager, Henry Carr, described one incident where the pscychic thing got under her skin.

“…when Dionne was going through an airport and a child recognized her as ‘that psychic lady on TV’ Dionne was crushed and said she had worked too hard as an entertainer to become known as ‘the psychic lady’.”
