Check out this clip from the new special “Stand”, where well-noted commentators discuss the fact if they think whether or not BEYONCE is timeless.
“Stand” is a cross-country road trip with some of today’s most noted social commentators and thinkers including Michael Eric Dyson, Cornel West, and Tavis Smiley. Airing TONIGHT at May 24 at 9pm ET on TV One.
”I’m not one of those people who doesn’t have to work at it”
I don’t get it. Is she bragging or complaining?
So many celebs claim they stay fit by eating protein and vegetables, staying active, and enjoying a high metabolism. More than likely, the reality is more like hours of daily butt-kicking with a personal trainer and all-liquid crash diets. That’s why BEYONCE’s interview in the June issue of Self is incredibly refreshing: She admits she works hard to keep her figure looking good.
”I’m not one of those people who doesn’t have to work at it. I can’t eat what I want, and I can’t not go to the gym.
I’m trying to do as much cardio as I can, so if I have a really long day of dancing [in rehearsals], then I’ll run maybe three miles. If not, then I’ll run six.
The truth is, it’s a lot of sacrifice. You have to push yourself. It doesn’t matter what trainer you have. And it doesn’t matter what program you’re on. You have to be healthy and make the right choices. But also unlike some other stars (ahem, Madonna), Knowles doesn’t want to look like an obsessed bodybuilder. “To me, sexier when it doesn’t look like you go to the gym,” she says. “I think it’s important to feel like a woman, as well as look like a woman.”
That being said, she’s not above some indulgences. Her choice comfort food? Krispy Kreme doughnuts. “There’s too much good food out there to never indulge.”
Apparently, BEYONCE is desperate to record a track with her wild child sister SOLANGE. Here is a HOTT LINE! According to a recent quote from Sasha Fierce herself:
“She’s an excellent mother, but when it’s time for her to party, she parties. I love and respect how bold she is… (But) she still won’t do a duet with me!”
well honestly, it’s not what you think! it’s just a COOL title to grab your attention LOL!
“My wardrobe is big. Put it this way, I’ve turned my old apartment into a closet.”
Damn! I bet it feels good to be rich!
BEYONCE KNOWLES has landed the cover of Glamour UK’s June 2009 issue, in which she discusses her love affair with clothes – most of which, for her, are free.
A few choice quotes from her interview have hit the internet, and they’re a far cry from the down-to-earth image Mrs. Carter usually presents. When asked how she deals with her extensive wardrobe, she said, “My wardrobe is big. Put it this way, I’ve turned my old apartment into a closet.”
Not even Kanye, who admits to renting storage space for his sneakers, would admit to that. But it’s not like she’s spending tons of cash on her stuff:
”I probably get about 15 bags sent to me a month. Armani gave me this croc bag, which was huge – I could only imagine how much that thing cost. It would be so expensive that I wouldn’t even buy it.
There are some bags that are pretty hot but then I haven’t bought myself an Hermes Birkin bag [from $7500 and up] because I think they are just too expensive.”
It’s probably safe to assume, then, that B’s $52,000 Louis Vuitton Tribute bag was a friendly gift and not an impulse purchase.
If the raw audio from her ‘Today’ show appearance is any indicator, Beyonce is fiercely in need of some vocal lessons
Nobody’s perfect!
The “board feed” of BEYONCE’s November appearance on the Today show has been leaked to the Internet, and judging by what we can hear, the multi-platinum selling artist would struggle to make it past the first round on American Idol.
HOWARD STERN managed to get his hands on a copy of it, and played the audio on air. You can hear it below:
The board feed — – essentially the unedited, raw audio being picked up by Beyonce’s mic — has the singer struggling to stay on pitch, off-key, and having some seriously cringe-worthy moments when she stretches for the high notes. Of course, if you watched her Today show performance, you didn’t hear any of that, leading many to the suspicion that she was essentially lip-syncing to a pre-recorded track.
Beyonce’s father says that the audio is fake. In an angry statement to TMZ, he says that anyone questioning his daughter’s ability to sing is like “questioning is Kobe Bryant could shoot a jump shot.”
The full statement from TMZ is below:
“If no one took the time to look at the biggest Inauguration in the history of America then shame on them.
If no one took the time to listen to Beyonce sing ‘America the Beautiful’ and ‘At Last’ at the Neighborhood
Ball for the first dance of President Obama and the First Lady, and they question Beyonce’s vocal ability, they’ve gotta be an idiot.
At 12 years into her career, the last thing someone should be questioning is her vocal ability.
That would be like questioning if Kobe Bryant could shoot a jump shot. The vocals were obviously altered.”
“this makes two African-American women featured on Vogue’s cover in a row – some are already decrying it as racist”
April’s fool? … we think not!
Beyoncé Knowles is on the cover of April’s Vogue, looking smoking hot as usual. Anna Wintour and crew apparently forced Beyoncé to abandon her fishtail-hemmed dresses for a minute or two, outfitting her in a gorgeous asymmetrical blue dress.
While Beyoncé’s cover should be celebrated – this makes two African-American women featured on Vogue’s cover in a row – some are already decrying it as racist. The issue? Beyoncé graces the ‘Shape issue,’ which some perceive as racially insensitive, as it could play into certain stereotypes about women of color and their curves.
Still, I think B looks spectacular, even with her hair pulled back in the same severe style she wore to the Academy Awards – somehow, in these pictures, it looks marvelous. Maybe it’s the sort of hairstyle that photographs well, but doesn’t work in real life.
My one complaint: I wish she would have worn a couple of truly avant-garde pieces for the shoot. Sasha Fierce can handle Gareth Pugh, but this willowy beauty doesn’t seem interested in hardcore fashion.
according to Entertainment Tonight, she’ll sing “At Last” by Etta James:
By John Charles Reedburg
Wouldn’t it be HOTT! if Bey did a cover of the DMX classic, “What these bitches want.”
Beyonce has officially been given the honor of singing the Obama’s first song on inauguration night, Tuesday.
So, will she belt out “Crazy in Love,” maybe “Ring the Alarm,” or will she simply ask Barack Obama to “Put a Ring on It”? Actually, none of the above, according to Entertainment Tonight, she’ll sing “At Last” by Etta James:
I am so honored that I will be performing for President Obama and the First Lady,” Beyonce said. “To sing ‘At Last’ while they have their first dance is a dream come true. I could not be more honored and excited that they have asked me to be part of this moment in history.”
But, Beyonce won’t be the only one participating in the much talked about inaugural festivities. Mariah Carey, Alicia Keys, Shakira, Sting and a number of other acts will join the singer for the official Neighborhood Ball.
The concert is for Washington D.C. residents and will be broadcast live and streamed online Tuesday night.
