CHRIS BROWN’s mom JOYCE HAWKINS hasn’t seen RIHANNA since Brown assaulted the singer in February, and she claims she misses her every day. Joyce said: “I love Rihanna. She’s like a daughter. She became family to us. She’s spent Christmas with us for the last two years. I miss her a lot.”

Chris attacked Rihanna in his car as they left a pre-Grammy Awards party, repeatedly punching her in the face and biting her arms. He later pleaded guilty to assault and was sentenced to six months of community service, 12 months of domestic violence counseling and five years probation. The judge also issued a restraining order which requires him to stay at least 100 yards from Rihanna for five years.

Chris, who recently admitted he was still in love with Rihanna, said the punishment was “fair.” But the rapper was not so pleased with talk show host Oprah Winfrey’s Rihanna-inspired episode on domestic violence that aired earlier this year, claiming he found it insulting.

He complained to People magazine: “I commend Oprah on being like, ‘This is a problem,’ but it was a slap in my face. I did a lot of stuff for her, like going to Africa and performing for her school. She could have been more helpful, like, ‘OK, I’m going to help both of these people out.’ “

A spokesman for Winfrey replied: “Oprah is very appreciative that Chris Brown performed at her school, but she takes domestic abuse very seriously. She hopes he gets the counseling he needs.”

CHRIS BROWN is sorry for beating up 21-year-old Rihanna, though he says he can’t actually remember doing it, and is telling anyone who will listen.

The singer, who pleaded guilty to felony assualt and was sentenced to five years probation, is opening up to various media outlets about the night of the Grammy Awards, when Brown punched and threatened Rihanna repeatedly in his rented Lamborghini.

In an interview with People, he admits that he’s still in love with Rihanna, “I never fell out of love with her,” he says, “That just wouldn’t go away.”

Brown also paid a visit to Larry King, where he talked about his abusive step-father while sitting next to his mother, Joyce Hawkins. According to CNN, Brown says in the interview, “I used to be scared to go to bed. Nobody taught us a book on how to — how to control our emotions or our anger.” The 20-year-old said, “I wish I could have changed that night.”

The interview is set to air Wednesday. The new issue of People is out Friday.

CHRIS BROWN was sentenced today to five years probation in the beating of ex-girlfriend RIHANNA. Brown will also be required to serve six months of community labor, and cannot come within 100 yards of Rihanna during his probation unless they both happen to be at the same music industry event.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Patricia Schnegg previously postponed sentencing because she wasn’t satisfied that Brown’s community labor, which he will serve in Virginia, would be strenuous enough. After receiving assurances from Richmond Police Chief Bryan T. Norwood that he would personally oversee Brown’s community labor, Schnegg proceeded with the plea-bargained sentencing.

Judge Schnegg warned Brown that if he violated the terms of his probation, he could face state prison. “I am not amused with the chatter that has been on the airwaves and any violation of your probation in this case comes with the potential for state prison,” she said.

The hearing, originally scheduled for Thursday, was moved up to Tuesday at the request of Brown’s lawyer, Mark Geragos. Rihanna did not attend.

“Umbrella” singer Rihanna will appear on the The Jay Leno Show on September 14, alongside hip-hop stars Kanye West and Jay-Z. The trio are expected to perform their new single “Run This Town.” Tom Cruise is also in negotiations to appear on the program.

Rihanna, 21, has kept a low profile since she was assaulted by her then-boyfriend Chris Brown in February. Chris pleaded guilty to the attack in June and was sentenced to five years’ probation, 180 days of community service and ordered to attend an anti-domestic violence program. He is also banned from going within 50 yards of Rihanna.

But the singer recently announced she wants Chris’ court order downgraded to a level-one protective restraining order.

Her lawyer Donald Etra said:

That order would prevent Chris from annoying, molesting or harassing her. That level-one order would fully protect her.

The order in effect now is a stay-away order preventing them from coming within 50 yards of each other.

But Rihanna’s position from the beginning is that there was no need for that level of protective order. Chris’s scheduled formal sentencing hearing on Wednesday was postponed until August 27 after the judge ruled she was not satisfied with the terms of his community labor order.

With 5 years probation and 180 days of community service, it might appear CHRIS BROWN got off easy by making a plea deal with prosecutors back in June. But a Los Angeles judge wants to make sure that the popular singer’s community service is an actual punishment instead of something easier or more glamorous.

Judge Patricia Schnegg said she needed to get more information from Virginia, Brown’s home state, about the type of community service he’ll be performing. Back in June, the judge said Brown needed to be doing physically difficult and unglamorous work like picking up trash on the side of the road.

Brown, who did not speak at the Wednesday sentencing, will also be required to take a year-long domestic violence prevention class, and is not allowed within 50 yards of ex-girlfriend Rihanna for the next 5 years.

“Love Sex Magic” singer CIARA insists it is down to stars of her generation – including “SexyBack” hitmaker Justin Timberlake, who has copied many of Jackson’s trademark dance moves – to embrace the musical legacy of the pop icon, who died of a suspected cardiac arrest last month.

She said:

I don’t know anything about Justin putting together a show for Michael but of course I’d love to be involved if anything came to light.

MJ was my biggest inspiration and I was flabbergasted to hear of his death. I had so been looking forward to seeing Michael’s show in London and finally meeting him. It is important for my generation of musicians to keep his memory alive. We have Justin, Usher, Beyonce Knowles and Ne-Yo.

“Run It” singer CHRIS BROWN has decided to mimic his ex-girlfriend RIHANNA — whom he pleaded guilty to assaulting earlier this year — by inking a design on celebrity tattoo artist Bang Bang. “Umbrella” hitmaker Rihanna recently left a lasting impression on the artist — real name Keith McCurdy — by drawing an umbrella with an “R” underneath it on his leg.

However, Chris, 20, has outdone his former girlfriend by creating his own design — a cartoon face with the word “Bang” above it.
Bang Bang revealed:

He drew it. It’s pretty funny. I told him, ‘Do whatever you want,’ and he drew something and I liked it.

He did a great job too. He’s a natural, which is funny because I said the same thing about Rihanna. She was really good the first time, but he was better.

He wasn’t nervous at all. I asked him if he was, and he said, ‘Nope – not at all.’

Keith is thought to be the only person in the world who has been tattooed by different celebrities. He now plans to continue the challenge and ask each of famous clients to return the favor.

He explained:

I’m so lucky. They’re all really cool and I’ve got a couple of other famous people who are going to tattoo me soon. I’d like to have all the celebrities I tattoo do a small tattoo on me. I think that would be really cool.

Under the terms of the agreement, Chris is the subject of a restraining order which sees him banned from coming within 50 yards of the ‘Umbrella’ singer.
If he is found to have violated the terms, he might lose the plea bargain – which saw him receive five years probation and 180 days of community labor rather than any jail time – and be charged with a misdemeanor.

Chris’ lawyer Mark Geragos did not know where his client was when questioned, and would only say: “I don’t want to be quoted on something hypothetical.”
Last week, Chris posted a clip on video sharing website YouTube in which he apologized for the “inexcusable” assault.
