Wow – where will it end?

Television producers understand the kind of men whose personal lives we’d like to peek into – think Hulk Hogan and Snoop Dogg — and they’ve nailed it with their latest pick, MICHAEL VICK. The new Philadelphia Eagles player and former dogfight ringmaster has signed up for a new BET reality show, tentatively called The Michael Vick Project.

According to the LA Times, the show will see quarterback fresh out of his 18-month stay in prison, joining up with the Eagles and coming to terms with his troubled past. Vick said, “I just want people to really get to know me as an individual. What I want to do is change the perception of me. I am a human being. I’ve made some mistakes in the past, and I wish it had never happened. But it’s not about how you fall, but about how you pick yourself up.”

One group that isn’t pleased about Vick’s return to the spotlight is PETA. A spokesman for the animal rights activists said, “People who abuse animals don’t deserve to be rewarded. They shouldn’t be given multimillion-dollar contracts… or given the privilege of being a role model. We don’t believe Michael Vick understands the seriousness of his crime. I think he’s sorry he got caught, but only time will tell if he’s truly remorseful.”

The shows producers have emphasized that the program will be a “docu-series” and not a reality show. Cue the serious tone.

During Tuesday’s BLUE JAYS vs. YANKESS game, the Yankee’s Jorge Posada wasn’t a happy camper and decided that he’d connect his elbow to Blue Jays pitcher Jesse Carlson, starting an all in brawl. The lead up to that point had been tense, with a number of Blue Jay’s batters being hit, but little did they expect what was coming next.

The brawl, that started with Posada and Carlson taking swings at each other, included numerous scuffles as both teams rushed the field. According to reports, Rod Barajas and the Yankees Shelley Duncan was one of the better fights in the brawl.

Wow-sers … as she is finally opening up!

ESPN personality ERIN ANDREWS talked to OPRAH WINFREY about the peephole tape that made her life a “nightmare” in an interview scheduled to air Friday, Sept. 11, 2009.

Andrews told Oprah she “opened up the computer (and) could feel my heart pounding,” after the blurry 5-minute tape was posted online. Andrews’ attorney has said the tape was shot at a hotel without her knowledge, and she is seeking to file suit against anyone posting or distributing the video.

Andrews’ interview appears on a show about summer headlines made to kick off the 24th season of the Oprah Winfrey Show. The sportscaster said she’s looking forward to getting back to work as football season picks up, saying “it’s really going to help me heal my wounds.”

Erin Andrews has worked for ESPN since 2004 and was named “sexiest sportscaster” by Playboy magazine in 2008 and 2009.

Though PLAXICO BURRESS hasn’t been a Giant for more than four months, the news of his accepting a plea deal for two years in jail still had a major affect on the team.
It could be seen in the eyes of wide receiver Sinorice Moss as he struggled for words upon hearing the news and it could be heard in the somber voice of team president and CEO John Mara.

“He was a part of the family,” Mara told reporters on his way to lunch. “I know a lot of our players are hurting right now just thinking about it because he was a friend to them. I hope it’s a wake-up call to some of them. I hope they’ve all learned a lesson — that you make a bad choice, a bad judgment, it can cost you your career and it can cost you having to go to prison.

“It’s a terrible situation when you think about what he threw away by doing what he did. It’s terrible. He had all that talent, he had a brand-new contract, he had a brand-new baby. It really is an American tragedy.”

Moss, who remains a close friend of Burress and trains with him in the off-season in Miami, wasn’t aware of the news until reporters informed him. Moss was apparently expecting to field questions about football when he was asked about the Burress situation.
“Wow,” Moss began. “It’s been a very, very tough situation since the beginning. Our concern was Plax always. …”

Moss gathered himself and said, “I’m so speechless, man. I can’t even think of anything to say right now, just hearing about this whole situation from the beginning to now. Plax is a good friend of mine I speak to a lot, even since he departed from this team. I just wish him the best. He made a decision on what he had to do. He’s going to be well.”

Said quarterback Eli Manning, “I’m saddened by the news. It’s just sad. I’m disappointed and feel bad for how this worked out and the circumstances that he’s been put through and his family. No one wanted this and wanted this to happen and it’s a shame it did.”

Antonio Pierce, who accompanied Burress last November on the night of his self-shooting and transported the gun from the crime scene, did not make an appearance at the players’ cafeteria Thursday. Running back Brandon Jacobs, who’s been outspoken in his support of Burress, also did not appear. Defensive end Osi Umenyiora, a staunch Burress supporter who clearly believed the district attorney was being too hard on Burress, declined comment.
That left a handful of players to react to the news.

“In the back of your mind, you kind of chalk it up as something that’s bound to happen sooner or later,” defensive end Justin Tuck said. “But once the sentence came down and you look at it, no one expected that. I don’t care how much you kept up with all the proceedings, nobody expected that. We thought, somehow or another, everything would turn out for the best with Plaxico and we were hoping for that and praying for that. But it is what it is now. All we can do now, as the New York Giants and the teammates of Plaxico, is try to support him any way we can.”

One recurring theme, as it pertains to the current team and all NFL players, is whether the Burress sentencing will serve as a wake-up call. Mara said he hopes that message has been sent and suggested that, if it hasn’t, there’s nothing more the team can say to make them understand.

“I think it’s been verbalized to them enough. I don’t think we need to beat them over the head with it any more,” Mara said. “I think all of them understand what the message is.”

Mara believes the district attorney, as well as New York mayor Michael Bloomberg, wanted to send a strong message to everyone.

“The laws in New York are pretty strict for this type of offense and rightfully so,” Mara said. “I think, had this been Joe the Plumber, would he have gotten two years? I’m not so sure of that.”

Mara said Burress is “entitled” to a second chance after his sentencing but cautioned that everyone should wait and “see what happens when he comes out.” If Burress goes to jail when he’s sentenced on Sept. 22 and serves the minimum 20 months, he’ll be 34 years old when he gets out in May 2011. Is that too old for him to resume his NFL career?

“No, not for a guy like that,” defensive end Mathias Kiwanuka said. “It all depends on how well he keeps up while he’s in there and how quickly he can rebound. But I think for a player of his caliber, he’s definitely still got a lot left in the tank. As tough as it will be to be away from the game, he’s one of the guys who could do it.”

Of course, there’s always the threat of disciplinary action from the league. But before that, NFL Players Association executive director DeMaurice Smith is promising a fight during negotiations on the new collective bargaining agreement. The current CBA is set to expire at the end of next season.

“The disciplinary system is something that, now that we’re forced to come to the bargaining table, it’ll be something I’m interested in talking about,” said Smith, who was visiting the Giants Thursday on his tour of all 32 teams, “because I have very strong feelings about the way the discipline system is now. And the players have equally strong feelings.”

According to the rampant rumors surrounding the future prospects of MICHAEL VICK, two teams have emerged as likely landing spots for the QB: the Steelers and the Patriots.

Michael Vick’s second chance in the National Football League is most likely to come from the New England Patriots or Pittsburgh Steelers, according to the Internet gambling Web site BetUS.com.

Vick was conditionally reinstated to the NFL yesterday, a week after completing a 23-month sentence for running a dogfighting ring. The NFL said that the former Pro Bowl quarterback can practice immediately and play in the preseason’s final two games if he can find a team that will sign him.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said he’ll decide when Vick can play in regular-season games by Week Six, or mid-October. While teams such as the Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants and New York Jets said they’re not interested in the 29-year-old, other clubs might seek to add the No. 1 pick in the 2001 NFL draft who holds the record for rushing yards in a season by a quarterback.

Looks like justice will soon prevail!

Sexy ESPN sportscaster ERIN ANDREWS was the target of a peephole pervert who surreptitiously shot a video of her walking around her hotel room naked — and posted it on the Internet.

The sideline siren wants the creepy cameraman brought to justice, both for herself and to keep other victims from having to go through the same nightmare.
Andrews’ lawyer, Marshall B. Grossman, confirmed yesterday she was “surreptitiously videotaped” while “in the privacy of her hotel room.”

“Although the perpetrators of this criminal act have not yet been identified, when they are identified, she intends to bring both civil and criminal charges against them and against anyone who has published the material,” Grossman said.

In the video, Andrews is seen primping her hair and putting on her makeup.

The video and screen grabs first surfaced on the Internet under the title “Hot naked blonde who looks a lot like a sports blogger favorite in her hotel room,” according to the sports-and-gossip Web site Deadspin.

The site on which the images first appeared didn’t identify the woman as Andrews, whom Playboy calls “America’s Sexiest Sportscaster.”

Last night, KOBE BRYANT attended the ESPY Awards with his wife VANESSA, who he met on the set of a music video for Eastsidaz ten years ago. Vanessa is known for dressing provocatively, so the knotted, sparkly black dress she chose for the ESPY event wasn’t a complete surprise.
