IS MIKE VICK GOING TO THE STEELERS OR THE PATS?

// July 30th, 2009 // No Comments » // Hott Sports

who knows? ... but he should go with whichever team likes dog fighting more? ... ;)

The ideal situation for Vick coming out of this process is to land with a respectable franchise that has strong leadership from the owner to the coaches to the players,” BetUS.com spokesman Reed Richards said from the Web site’s Costa Rica-based office. “New England and Pittsburgh both fit that description. They would keep him on a short leash.”

Glad to see him back!

According to the rampant rumors surrounding the future prospects of MICHAEL VICK, two teams have emerged as likely landing spots for the QB: the Steelers and the Patriots.

From a story at Bloomberg:

Michael Vick’s second chance in the National Football League is most likely to come from the New England Patriots or Pittsburgh Steelers, according to the Internet gambling Web site BetUS.com.

Vick was conditionally reinstated to the NFL yesterday, a week after completing a 23-month sentence for running a dogfighting ring. The NFL said that the former Pro Bowl quarterback can practice immediately and play in the preseason’s final two games if he can find a team that will sign him.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said he’ll decide when Vick can play in regular-season games by Week Six, or mid-October. While teams such as the Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants and New York Jets said they’re not interested in the 29-year-old, other clubs might seek to add the No. 1 pick in the 2001 NFL draft who holds the record for rushing yards in a season by a quarterback.

Looks like justice will soon prevail!

Sexy ESPN sportscaster ERIN ANDREWS was the target of a peephole pervert who surreptitiously shot a video of her walking around her hotel room naked — and posted it on the Internet.

The sideline siren wants the creepy cameraman brought to justice, both for herself and to keep other victims from having to go through the same nightmare.
Andrews’ lawyer, Marshall B. Grossman, confirmed yesterday she was “surreptitiously videotaped” while “in the privacy of her hotel room.”

“Although the perpetrators of this criminal act have not yet been identified, when they are identified, she intends to bring both civil and criminal charges against them and against anyone who has published the material,” Grossman said.

In the video, Andrews is seen primping her hair and putting on her makeup.

The video and screen grabs first surfaced on the Internet under the title “Hot naked blonde who looks a lot like a sports blogger favorite in her hotel room,” according to the sports-and-gossip Web site Deadspin.

The site on which the images first appeared didn’t identify the woman as Andrews, whom Playboy calls “America’s Sexiest Sportscaster.”

Last night, KOBE BRYANT attended the ESPY Awards with his wife VANESSA, who he met on the set of a music video for Eastsidaz ten years ago. Vanessa is known for dressing provocatively, so the knotted, sparkly black dress she chose for the ESPY event wasn’t a complete surprise.

It just might not have been a great choice. Sure, Vanessa is beautiful, but the dress looks a bit too tight. Is there ever such a thing as overexposure? Or does Vanessa pull off this risky look?

STEVE McNAIR REMEMBERED!

// July 4th, 2009 // 2 Comments » // Hott Sports

the man! the myth! the legend! ... never forgotten!

When the Houston Oilers fled Texas for Tennessee more than a decade ago, the franchise needed a face to sell the NFL in a place where college football ruled for decades. They found it in Steve McNair

Former NFL quarterback Steve McNair killed in Nashville

HOTT SPORTS!

A mere life, lost to a tragic end!

The talented, if somewhat unconventional, quarterback gave the rebuilding team a foundation to build on. He also helped turn the renamed Titans into one of the AFC’s most consistent winners during his tenure, a team built more on grit and toughness than eye-popping stats.

The image of McNair picking himself up off the turf and trotting – slowly sometimes – back to the huddle became a weekly fixture at Titans games, where his fearless play made him an icon in the tight-knit community.

It’s what made his death all the more shocking to his former teammates. McNair, 36, was found dead in a Nashville, Tenn., condominium Saturday with a gunshot wound to the head.

“It’s kind of like disbelief, like somebody was playing a cruel April Fools’ joke,” former Tennessee wide receiver Kevin Dyson said. “It’s just so surreal.”

Shock gave way to appreciation for the way McNair played during his 11 seasons with the franchise, leading Tennessee to the 2000 Super Bowl while evolving into one of the league’s most effective – if not always the flashiest – quarterbacks.

Former NFL quarterback Steve McNair killed in Nashville

McNair threw for over 31,000 yards during his career – including 27,141 with the Titans – and made the Pro Bowl four times, yet his trademark wasn’t his sometimes shaky spiral but the way he played, more like a linebacker than a quarterback.

All that physical play came with a price. Not that McNair complained.

No matter how many times he was bounced around, no matter how vicious the beating, he never broke, never placed blame. That simply wasn’t his style.

“He was so cool under pressure, so calm,” former Tennessee running back Eddie George told ESPN. “He never raised his voice, never lost his composure. Obviously, he had moments when he was disappointed, but he has such a short memory that you really couldn’t tell what Steve was thinking a lot of the time. He was never affected by a bad play. He was just the ultimate leader.”

The Titans needed that kind of leadership after making the move from Houston following the 1996 season. He guided the team through the sometimes rocky transition, becoming the unquestioned leader of a franchise in desperate need of an identity.

“His worth and what he meant to us as players, it’s almost immeasurable,” former Tennessee offensive tackle Brad Hopkins said. “He is recognized at Titans football and always will be. With this club and even the players you see today on the team, it all started with his group and it started with him.”

Baltimore Ravens vs. Oakland Raiders

McNair steadily grew into one of the league’s most effective playmakers, using his feet as much as his arm to put opposing defences on their heels. McNair didn’t have the speed of Michael Vick or the accuracy of Donovan McNabb, but his bruising, physical style won over teammates and opponents alike. McNair rushed for 3,590 yards and 37 touchdowns during his career.

“He started that mould as a two-way kind of guy, a tough guy that would do whatever it takes to win and was as hard to bring down as a fullback,” former Titans tight end Frank Wychek said. “I think he had the respect of everyone who ever suited up with him and anyone who played against him.”

McNair retired after ending his career with the Baltimore Ravens following the 2007 season, but his legacy will forever be linked to the Titans. He was inducted into the Oilers/Titans Hall of Fame and the Ring of Honor at LP Field last year.

While some stars have trouble stepping away from the game, McNair seemed at peace with his decision to retire. Dyson, who came up one yard short of the tying touchdown on the final play of the 2000 Super Bowl against the St. Louis Rams, ran into McNair recently and said they never talked about football.

“He just wanted to go fishing, go hunting, see his kids,” Dyson said. “He was thoroughly enjoying that, to not have the pressure of being the icon of the town. He just wanted to live his life and help give back.”

Tennessee Titans v Minnesota Vikings

That selflessness is what helped McNair earn the admiration of his teammates. Of all the plays he made during his career, the lasting memory George has of McNair are the moments before kickoff when he would go up to each teammate and tell them how much they were appreciated.

“We would be together before every game inside the tunnel, shaking everybody’s hand, every player, every coach, every trainer, everybody that was part of the Titans’ family,” George said. “As we were going out and as we finished, we would stop and look at each other and say ‘I love you.’

“That was kind of the completion. That was it, that we were going out to war.”

CLIPPERS UNLOAD RANDOLPH!

yippy!... at least someone is satisfied! LOL!

It will now be a lot harder to stuff up with Randolph gone

NBA: MAR 10 Cavaliers at Clippers

HOTT SPORTS!

By Daniel Eade

The Los Angeles Clippers have pulled a minor miracle by unloading forward ZACH RANDOLPH off to the Memphis Grizzlies for the expiring contract of swingman Quentin Richardson.

Randolph was acquired by the Clippers in November last year from the New York Knicks along with guard Mardy Collins in exchange for Cutino Mobley and Tim Thomas, as LA’s other team tried to compensate themselves and fill the void left by the shock departure of power forward Elton Brand in the 2008 off-season.

The deal comes less than a week after the Clippers rejected a swap with Memphis for Randolph and Darko Milicic. Instead the Grizzlies shipped Milicic onto New York for Richardson on draft day, before the two franchises evaluated a new deal for Randolph last Tuesday.

After becoming the 19th selection in the 2001 draft, Randolph spent a few seasons with limited opportunities coming off the bench before a promotion into the starting five for the 2003-04 season allowed Randolph to blossom into a 20/10 machine.
The break-out season from Randolph saw the south-paw rewarded with the NBA’s Most Improved Player Award and a 6-year contract extension worth $84 million.

NBA: MAR 10 Cavaliers at Clippers

In the off-season of 2007 after again posting 20/10 numbers in the previous season, the second time in four years, Randolph was traded to the Knicks in a move that many believe was done purely to keep Randolph away from the number one pick in the ‘07 draft, Greg Oden.

The word was starting to spread that Randolph wasn’t the best player to have on your team and his selfish nature was more detrimental than any stat-line could compensate.

After one season and 11 games with the Knicks, Randolph was traded to the Clippers but the deal almost fell through when Mobley failed his physical with the Knicks after Doctors discovered a heart problem. The Clippers though didn’t even wink an eye-lash at the Knicks, who basically implied, we don’t care if this guy has a health issue and won’t be able to play for us, we just want to get rid of Randolph. The Clipps accepted the deal and the Knicks popped champagne.

With another $33.3 million still owing to him over the next two seasons, Randolph was seen as close to un-tradeable as they come, with the majority of teams in the league attempting to free up cap space for the summer of 2010 when LeBron James will test the free-agent market for the first time.

NBA: MAR 10 Cavaliers at Clippers

Now all of a sudden the Clippers are a potential target for a big name free-agent in 2010 with a young and promising squad developing, led by the 2009 number one pick in the draft, Blake Griffin, shooting guard Eric Gordon and live-wire act Al Thornton, with the experienced heads of Baron Davis and Chris Kaman to man the outside and inside.

After many decades of heart break, the Clippers may be in the best position they have ever been in going forward, if they can turn the potential this team has into on-court success, then they maybe on their way to becoming LA’s favourite team. (And pigs might fly!!)

The foundation has been set and now the question that basketball fans are waiting to see is, “How will the Clippers stuff this one up?”

It will now be a lot harder to stuff up with Randolph gone.

WHAT! NOW! FOR MORRISON?

your guess is as good as ours! LOL!

Morrison has one more season remaining on his current contract and appears to already be at the crossroads in his career

NBA: FEB 17 Hawks at Lakers

Purple and gold — really not his soul! LOL!

By Daniel Eade

When Adam Morrison dressed for the 2009 NBA Finals there was no purple and gold L.A. Lakers jersey underneath, instead Morrison was wearing a suit as he sat on the bench as an inactive player on the Lakers roster, a place the 3rd pick from the 2006 draft had become all too accustomed with after being traded from the Charlotte Bobcats.

Morrison played eight games as a Laker during his short stint out west, after he was exchanged along with Shannon Brown for Vladimir Radmanovic last February, and never participated in any of the teams playoffs games as the Kobe Bryant led-Lakers stormed their way to the 2009 Championship with a 4-1 series triumph over the Orlando Magic.

Morrison has one more season remaining on his current contract and appears to already be at the crossroads in his career. Looking ahead at the possibility of racking up more DNP-CD’s in LA next season would affect the future value of Morrison’s free-agent status in 2010 by potentially $10,000,000+.

NBA: FEB 26 Suns at Lakers

In three years since Michael Jordan used his first pick with the Bobcats organisation to select Morrison, the college scoring freak who averaged 28.1ppg in his final season at Gonzaga has seen his NBA dream slide further and further down into oblivion, handicapped by a serious knee-injury in his second year which kept the small forward out for the whole season.

Los Angeles are in a dilemma over the free-agent status of both Lamar Odom and Trevor Ariza, and whether they should re-sign both or let one slip away, possibly without any remuneration, but those two players who clog up a lot of minutes in Morrison’s ideal small forward position are defensive stoppers with giant wingspans and the idea that the Lakers would feel comfortable in simply replacing Morrison, a player not renowned for his defensive prowess, into those extended minutes is utterly absurd.

During his rookie season Morrison did prove that he is capable of scoring in the show, averaging 11.8ppg but shooting at a clip of 38%.

The talent is there from Morrison, glimpses have been shown and unfortunately it hasn’t been on display since his rookie year, which was followed by injury and then a chalk and cheese relationship with Bobcats coach Larry Brown before a lot of sitting and watching in L.A.

Orlando shooting sensation, JJ Redick, who was Morrison’s main rival on the college circuit as a star at Duke University believes that Morrison just needs a bit of patience because it will all work out for him when he spoke after game one of the Finals,
“I think he’s going to be fine. He had a bad injury his second year, he went through a trade this season, so this is kind of his second season.”
Redick continued to say,

“He averaged double figures his (rookie) year. I don’t think you can really judge a guy after two or three years.”

Orange County News - February 10, 2009

Before Morrison makes a decision, he must speak with Lakers General-Manager Mitch Kupchak and Phil Jackson (or Kurt Rambis, if Rambis is promoted due to Jackson retiring as expected) and find out if he has a future with the team and if the answer is negative, then Morrison should request a trade and move on to a location where he can benefit a team by doing more than waving a towel.

Morrison averaged 1.3ppg while having 5.5 minutes per game in L.A. through his eight appearances, the majority of which came in junk time.

Potential suitors for Morrison’s services are out there but what kind of role those franchises would foresee for Morrison in their colours would greatly variate from team to team.

And with a high-amount of teams set to be lining up for the 2010 free-agent class that could feature the 2009 MVP, LeBron James, as well as Dwayne Wade, Chris Bosh and Steve Nash, it is quite possible that a team who is unable to secure one big name, or a team that can sign one top-of-the-class free-agents and also have money left over, might also be willing to throw some cash Morrison’s way.

But if Morrison is to meet with a healthy pay-day then the 2009-10 season will need to be a break-out season for the moustache wearing, 24-year old.
That won’t happen with the Lakers.
