PARIS HILTON was the inspiration behind MICHAEL JACKSON’s name for his daughter, Paris Michael Jackson — or so she says. At the screening of the MTV documentary Paris, Not France this week, Paris told Extra the whole story:

“My mom and Michael went to high school together and they were best friends since they were 13.

So I grew up knowing Michael very well and when he had his daughter, he always loved the name Paris and grew up being an uncle to me. So he asked my mom if it was okay and of course she said yes and I think she’s such a beautiful little girl and I’m proud we have the same name.

Paris’s version of events is certainly plausible, since mom Kathy Hilton is also 50 years old (the same age as Jackson when he died).”

PARIS HILTON has been in court this week fighting a lawsuit filed by the producers behind Pledge This! For those in the dark about the legal struggle: Paris starred in the 2006 sorority film but was later sued for $8.3 million for not adequately promoting the movie’s DVD release per the terms of her contract. Yes, DVD.

According to the Mirror, producers blame Hilton for the film’s commercial failure, claiming she refused to give interviews about it (even 10-minute phone ones). As a result, the heiress is stuck defending herself in a Miami courthouse.

But enough about that. On a more entertaining note, here is an artist’s sketch of Paris during proceedings:

One of last night’s most hilarious moments at the MTV Movie Awards came when Brüno (depicted by none other than SACHA BARON COHEN) flew out over the audience in a pair of angel wings and little else, landing plop-straddle in rapper EMINEM’s face.

While Eminem appeared angry and stormed out of the theater, it’s likely he was in on the act – and, according to Life & Style, he was the producers’ second choice.

The tabloid claims that producer Mark Burnett had asked PARIS HILTON whether she’d be willing to participate in the stunt. She turned down the offer, probably because she didn’t want Cohen’s bare derriere in her face while she clung to boyfriend Doug Reinhardt.

All PARIS HILTON wanted was some good tunes, instead she got caught in a bar fight and her new boyfriend, DOUG REINHARDT, was left with a busted lip.

According to E! News the pair got caught in a scuffle near the DJ booth at the Fontainebleau club in Miami Beach early Friday morning. Hilton was apparently fed up with the club’s techno music and asked the DJ to play something “good” like Daft Punk or Bob Sinclair. Instead, she got a shove from the DJ’s bodyguards and Reinhardt stepped in.

Luckily, Paris Hilton took to her MySpace blog this morning to clear up the whole situation:

“The DJ was so unbelieveably rude and all because I asked to play one good song. Then out of nowhere his bodyguard (don’t ask me why he has a bodyguard, like he really needs one. Ha) pushed me really hard, that’s when my boyfriend, like my knight in shining armor stepped in and told the guy to keep his hands off of me.

Then all hell broke loose… Doug was fighting off like 6 guys. But he was of course stronger then them all but one of the idiots punched him in the face and busted open his lip. There was blood all over, I cried I was so upset and scared.”

Hotel security intervened, and Hilton survived. Reinhardt on the other hand, despite having the super human strength to ward of six grown men, suffered some scratches.

Hilton also addressed engagement rumors in her blog, saying, “This never happend, I don’t know where they come up with these stories sometimes. All we did was have a lovely dinner at my mom’s favorite restaurant.”

Still, the relationship must be moving fast, Reinhardt recently told In Touch that he wants the heiress to have his babies:

“Paris would make a great mom — she’s my Angel Princess. I’d love to have some mini Parises one day.”

ANIMAL SHELTERS are bursting at the seams with Chihuahuas – and pet experts blame Paris Hilton!

Many of the adorable pups were purchased by women who saw PARIS and other Hollywood starlets toting the animals as fashion accessories, say animal shelter workers – and now the little dogs are being dumped when the women get sick of caring for them.

There’s an epidemic of abandoned Chihuahuas – especially in trend-conscious California – and sadly, many are being euthanized.

Overwhelmed with the number of Chihuahuas at their three county shelters, officials in Santa Barbara, Calif., held an “Adopt a Chihuahua Week” – offering a fur-trimmed pink carrying case to anyone who adopted one of the tiny pooches.

The problem, say experts, is people who want to be seen with a trendy pet, but don’t want to be bothered caring for it.

“Chihuahuas are not a toy or a fashion accessory,” leading authority Lynnie Bunten told the media. “But because some people think they are – then realize they’re wrong – there’s a growing problem of abandoned Chihuahuas.”

Bunten, who runs the Chihuahua rescue for the Chihuahua Club of America, says young girls see Paris with her dog, Tinkerbelle, and want to emulate her. The club now bans anyone under 21 from adopting a Chihuahua.

“They just want the dogs for the wrong reason,” says Bunten. “I think it’s just plain silly when you see a woman walking around with a Chihuahua in her purse because she thinks it’s fashionable.”
