RIHANNA hasn’t commented on her volatile relationship with CHRIS BROWN and the February assault that earned him five years probation, but that may change when her new album is released. Ne-Yo, who is working with the 21-year-old singer on the record, said: “Expect an edgier, almost angrier Rihanna on this one. Rihanna says some things on this album that you’ve never heard her say before.”

It’s been rumored Rihanna is planning to sing about the assault, or about the violence that plagued the relationship. Court papers have revealed the pair were involved in at least two other “domestic violence” incidents before the February altercation, during which Chris punched, kicked and choked Rihanna in his car.

Akon is also working with the pop beauty on her new songs, but he has no interest in appearing on any of her dark tracks. He said: “I’m not supposed to say anything but I’m going to work on as many songs as possible with her. I’m going to lighten her up. I don’t want an angry Rihanna.”

In May, it was claimed Rihanna had been writing a song about killing a cheating partner at the time of the assault. It was called “Emergency Room,” about a women who dreams of exacting revenge by hospitalizing her unfaithful partner. Lyrics include: “I’m going to leave your heart broken on the floor / You’re gonna be in the emergency room / I’m standing by your bed / And so tempted to pull out your IV.”

It has been claimed the argument between Chris and Rihanna started after she became angry that he had received a text message from an ex-girlfriend.

CHRIS BROWN’s mom JOYCE HAWKINS hasn’t seen RIHANNA since Brown assaulted the singer in February, and she claims she misses her every day. Joyce said: “I love Rihanna. She’s like a daughter. She became family to us. She’s spent Christmas with us for the last two years. I miss her a lot.”

Chris attacked Rihanna in his car as they left a pre-Grammy Awards party, repeatedly punching her in the face and biting her arms. He later pleaded guilty to assault and was sentenced to six months of community service, 12 months of domestic violence counseling and five years probation. The judge also issued a restraining order which requires him to stay at least 100 yards from Rihanna for five years.

Chris, who recently admitted he was still in love with Rihanna, said the punishment was “fair.” But the rapper was not so pleased with talk show host Oprah Winfrey’s Rihanna-inspired episode on domestic violence that aired earlier this year, claiming he found it insulting.

He complained to People magazine: “I commend Oprah on being like, ‘This is a problem,’ but it was a slap in my face. I did a lot of stuff for her, like going to Africa and performing for her school. She could have been more helpful, like, ‘OK, I’m going to help both of these people out.’ “

A spokesman for Winfrey replied: “Oprah is very appreciative that Chris Brown performed at her school, but she takes domestic abuse very seriously. She hopes he gets the counseling he needs.”

While her ex CHRIS BROWN is telling every media outlet that he still loves her, RIHANNA’s been cuddling up to a new man, LA scenester TRAVIS LONDON.

We’re not really sure what a scenester does, but apparently they go out in Hollywood a lot and routinely date hot young celebrities. Apparently London, who has previously been linked with Mary Kate Olsen, has been seen trekking all over Tinsel Town with Rihanna.

According to the NY Daily News, the pair were seen eating at Giorgio Baldi and Chateau Marmont. An onlooker said, “They were very silly and touchy-feely. She looked like she was having a really good time.” Chris who?

CHRIS BROWN is sorry for beating up 21-year-old Rihanna, though he says he can’t actually remember doing it, and is telling anyone who will listen.

The singer, who pleaded guilty to felony assualt and was sentenced to five years probation, is opening up to various media outlets about the night of the Grammy Awards, when Brown punched and threatened Rihanna repeatedly in his rented Lamborghini.

In an interview with People, he admits that he’s still in love with Rihanna, “I never fell out of love with her,” he says, “That just wouldn’t go away.”

Brown also paid a visit to Larry King, where he talked about his abusive step-father while sitting next to his mother, Joyce Hawkins. According to CNN, Brown says in the interview, “I used to be scared to go to bed. Nobody taught us a book on how to — how to control our emotions or our anger.” The 20-year-old said, “I wish I could have changed that night.”

The interview is set to air Wednesday. The new issue of People is out Friday.

CHRIS BROWN was sentenced today to five years probation in the beating of ex-girlfriend RIHANNA. Brown will also be required to serve six months of community labor, and cannot come within 100 yards of Rihanna during his probation unless they both happen to be at the same music industry event.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Patricia Schnegg previously postponed sentencing because she wasn’t satisfied that Brown’s community labor, which he will serve in Virginia, would be strenuous enough. After receiving assurances from Richmond Police Chief Bryan T. Norwood that he would personally oversee Brown’s community labor, Schnegg proceeded with the plea-bargained sentencing.

Judge Schnegg warned Brown that if he violated the terms of his probation, he could face state prison. “I am not amused with the chatter that has been on the airwaves and any violation of your probation in this case comes with the potential for state prison,” she said.

The hearing, originally scheduled for Thursday, was moved up to Tuesday at the request of Brown’s lawyer, Mark Geragos. Rihanna did not attend.

The music industry is so happy! So … so! Happy!

“Umbrella” singer Rihanna will appear on the The Jay Leno Show on September 14, alongside hip-hop stars Kanye West and Jay-Z. The trio are expected to perform their new single “Run This Town.” Tom Cruise is also in negotiations to appear on the program.

Rihanna, 21, has kept a low profile since she was assaulted by her then-boyfriend Chris Brown in February. Chris pleaded guilty to the attack in June and was sentenced to five years’ probation, 180 days of community service and ordered to attend an anti-domestic violence program. He is also banned from going within 50 yards of Rihanna.

But the singer recently announced she wants Chris’ court order downgraded to a level-one protective restraining order.

Her lawyer Donald Etra said:

That order would prevent Chris from annoying, molesting or harassing her. That level-one order would fully protect her.

The order in effect now is a stay-away order preventing them from coming within 50 yards of each other.

But Rihanna’s position from the beginning is that there was no need for that level of protective order. Chris’s scheduled formal sentencing hearing on Wednesday was postponed until August 27 after the judge ruled she was not satisfied with the terms of his community labor order.

The judge wants to make sure Brown’s “community service“ is something nasty like picking up trash

Whelp! It looks like it’s not going to be that easy for Breezy!

With 5 years probation and 180 days of community service, it might appear CHRIS BROWN got off easy by making a plea deal with prosecutors back in June. But a Los Angeles judge wants to make sure that the popular singer’s community service is an actual punishment instead of something easier or more glamorous.

Judge Patricia Schnegg said she needed to get more information from Virginia, Brown’s home state, about the type of community service he’ll be performing. Back in June, the judge said Brown needed to be doing physically difficult and unglamorous work like picking up trash on the side of the road.

Brown, who did not speak at the Wednesday sentencing, will also be required to take a year-long domestic violence prevention class, and is not allowed within 50 yards of ex-girlfriend Rihanna for the next 5 years.

OK! … but wasn’t he seen with her last week? Hmm …?
